Transexpace: Galactic Revolt is an experimental queer project which has taken the shape of a photo-novela, a short-film and various performances based on body extensions and pieces by Anna Maria Staiano. This high gloss science fiction fantasy subverts the stereotypical genre of the photo-novella in a universe populated by Amazonian warriors, androgynous diplomats and genderbenders.

Ximo Rochera, (Director of Ediciones Canibaal) is responsible for the text and the Eva Pez for the layout of the photo-novela whilst Alejandro Sánchez was the main photographer and Toni Cordero provided photo-montages of la Tzarina and Queer Matter. The performers who participated in the project are: Abel Baguena, Graham Bell Tornado, Carolina Boluda, Josey Heyes, Eva Pez, Jennifer Picken, Isaac Torres, Lili Tras Tras and Mad Vicious.

The project has been presented at the IVAM, Institute of Modern Arts in Valencia, as part of the Biennal Melting Point on the 29th April 2018, with the launch of the photo-movela, a screening of the short film and am exhibition of various body pieces made for it. Another presentation took place at the International Conference Atenea: Women in Art  & Tech at the Arts Faculty of the University Polytechnic of Valencia followed by the screening of the short film on the 29th June 2018.

Work-in-progress versions of the experimental short FILM based on the photo-novella have been screened at the Intramurs Arts Festival in Valencia and in the “Deep Trash from Outer Space” event organised by CUNTemporary Arts in London in October 2016 and at the LGTB Zinegoak Film Festival in Bilbao in February 2017 in a session of live performance and shorts by La Erreria (House of Bent) and Graham Bell Tornado.

As well as being shown at the IVAM presentation and at the Atenea Conference in Valencia, the final vesion of the short has been premiered in NosGusTrans. the 1st Trans Film Festival in Spain, which took place in the MACA Museum in Alicante on 13th April 2018 and it is participating in the Biennal of  Feminist Video-Art Fem Tour Truck which will be touring various countries in South America and Europa in 2018/19 such as: Colombia, Ecuador, Argentina, Spain, France and Edinburgh.

Amongst the PERFORMANCES based on Transexpace. The first was a Tableaux Vivant during the Corporeactive Show at Le petit Canibaal (Valencia, 2014). Another performance which culminated in a Tableaux Vivant, took place at the IVAM, Valencian Museum of Modern Arts on the 21 April 2016 as part of the Biennal Melting Point with the participation of Isaac Torres (narrator), Carolina Boluda, Graham Bell Tornado, Eva Pez, Abel Baguena and Jennifer Picken.

Transexpace: Revuelta Galactica

Un experimento multimedia que incluye piezas corporales, live performance, un cortometraje y una fotonovela.

En Transexpace no solo se rompen los esquemas de género, sino también los géneros artísticos que se entremezclan en un híbrido camp utilizando la ciencia ficción para subvertir el mundo estereotipado de las fotonovelas romantícas.

Un proyecto expansivo que desde lo queer se reapropia del espacio y ocupa arquitecturas simbólicas del poder presentando un universo poblado por guerreras amazónicas, cónsules andróginxs y disidentes de género.

El texto de la foto-novela es a cargo de Ximo Rochera (Director de las Ediciones Canibaal) y la maquetación es de Eva Pez; las fotográfias son de Alejandro Sánchez e incluye fotomontajes de la Zarina y Queer Matter a cargo de Toni Cordero; y cuenta con la participación de lxs performers: Abel Baguena, Graham Bell Tornado, Carolina Boluda, Josey Heyes, Eva Pez, Jennifer Picken, Isaac Torres, Lili Tras Tras y Mad Vicious.

Una presentación multi-media del proyecto Transexpace  -con el cortometraje,  la fotonovela, material de las performances y una selección de piezas corporales– ha tenido lugar en el IVAM, Instituto de Arte Moderno de Valencia, el 29 abril 2018 en el marco de la Bienal Melting Point.  Otra presentación ha sido en la Conferencia Atenea – Mujeres: Artistas Tecnológas en el auditorio de la Facultad de Bellas Artes de UPV, Universitat Politecnica de Valencia el 29 de Junio 2018 donde se ha proyectado el cortometraje.

Versiones work-on-progress del cortometraje editado por La Erreria (House of Bent) han participado en el Festival Intramurs en Valencia y en el evento “Deep Trash from Outer Space” organizado por CUNTemporaryArts en Londres en Octubre 2016 and in Zinegoak, el festival de cine LGTB de Bilbao. en Febrero 2017 en una sesión de live performance y cortos by Graham Bell Tornado y La Erreria (House of Bent).

A parte de haber sido mostrada en la presentación en el IVAM y en la Conferencia Atenea en Valencia, la versión final del corto Transexpace se ha estrenado en NosGusTrans, el Primer Festival de Cine Trans de España, el 13 de abril 2018 en el Museo MACA de Alicante y participa en la Bienal Itinerante de Video-Arte Feminista Fem Tour Truck que visitará varios paises de Sudamérica y Europa en 2018/19 como: Colombia, Ecuador, Argentina, España, Francia y Edimburgo!
